This brings back memories, slope soaring into a S/E wind off of Galley Hill in Bexhill.
Bags of lift near the hill, big turbulence behind the slope, nowhere to land but worth it.
Only fly there in rubbish weather as you get crazy numbers of people walking through when it’s warm. When the weather grim like today the only thing to look out for are cars in the ‘landing area’. Continue reading

Wheelieman Hits the Halfpipe
Step back kids, this half-pipe belongs to Wheelieman!
Take one Luggie Scooter and one foolish General Tomfoolery, remix the video to try and make it exciting and the result is an ill rated vid!
Vid includes crazy wheelies, forward & backward maneuvers, some turns and a MASSIVE FALL AT THE END!* Continue reading
Doing the Limbo Hastings Style
Last week we played with our new limbo sticks in Eastbourne and that was kinda fun but you know it’s all better in Hastings so we gave limbo a whirl on the posh side of the marsh!
Amos had sorted all of our flying stuff before I’d even got out of bed and we were up there by 11am to a rather chilly overcast morning at Fairlight. The wind was about 20 mph, fairly southerly and looking good so we lobbed ’em off and had a fantastic fly for at least an hour in brilliant lift and enough wind for hovering & kiting! Limbo-a-go-go & a floaty day @ Butts Lane, Eastbourne
Pics & vids from Sunday’s light breeze at Butts Lane! We turned up around midday to a lovely breeze and proceeded to get some combat in for about 30 mins until the wind dropped off. From then there was just enough wind to scratch around (unless you brought a floaty then you were fine!) and by 2pm it was time to throw the hat in and give up. Continue reading
Pylon Racing & Foamie fun at Butts Lane, Eastbourne
Plenty of standing around chewing the cud whilst watching the end of East Sussex Soaring Association‘s pylon racing meeting, then plenty of combat action showing the ‘big boys’ how it’s done.
Not many words this time, just some pics & vids Continue reading
Light Winds at Fairlight Firehills
- A moment of lift! (rare…)
- My son’s SAS Venom coming in for another low pass
- Our ‘gopher’ fetched numerous times
We hadn’t been out for a good fly for a while so took a chance on a dodgy SSE 8-9mph breeze on a lovely sunny day. Continue reading
Butts on the Corner – ‘Regenerative Braking’ Day.
I took my mum flying the other week! We went to Butts Brow in Eastbourne and met up with ‘athan and Mat with one T. The wind was on the left corner of the South East slope and the lift was huge & everywhere! Continue reading
Limbo Experiment @ Fairlight
My son & I went to Fairlight armed with a couple of big sticks, trees actually – we’ve got this tree that produces astonishingly fast growing saplings and these ‘sticks’ were 2 I felled earlier.
The wind wasn’t quite on the slope, SW gusting 15-20mph, coming over the East Hill next to Hastings Old Town before hitting the slope making some pretty lumpy air! It was a bit too grim for my son, he gave it a bit of a go though. Continue reading
Light lift at Butts Brow
- Mat with 1 T’s little free flight conversion
- Matt with 2 Ts patiently working out what was wrong with his radio gear
OK so it’s been a while since I’ve posted, have been out to the slopes – just haven’t quite felt inspired to write about it for a few outings. I’ve added up the inspiration from the last 4 outings and it’s enough for a writing sessions! Continue reading
Kensington Switch Stick – Lightweight Folding Walking Stick Review
It occurred to me that I haven’t reviewed ‘old faithful’ – my folding walking stick. For starters, it’s called a Kensington Switch Stick
(link goes to the search page eBay), these come in a variety of colours with an optional strap – which I didn’t go for myself as I figured I’d switch hands regularly (which I do as it turns out!). Continue reading
